Hear the stories of children served by a CASA

According to the Administrative Office of the Courts, there were 8,081 children in foster care in New Jersey as of December 2010. At any time in Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren counties there are approximately 400 children living in foster care who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned by their families. In 2010 CASA volunteer advocates served 200 of these children and donated more than 5,000 hours of their time with the goal of helping to meet their needs while in foster care and move them to safe, loving, and permanent homes as quickly as possible, whether that is their home of origin, an adoptive home, or placement with a relative or family friend.

This organization has a record of expanding services to greater numbers of children every year that it has been in existence with more than 300 children served over the past five years. CASA SHaW is the only entity authorized by the court to provide these types of advocacy services to children in foster care in Vicinage 13 and no fee is ever charged for this service.
